This weblog can trace it’s roots back to 1998 and my first webpage called, “The Unacknowledged Legislators.” I opened an account on “Geocities” before they were bought-out by Yahoo! My first website contained my poetry and essays on the life and work of my favorite writers. I maintained this website until 2001 when I closed my account with Geocities out of protest over Yahoo! placing mandatory advertisement scripts on member’s webpages.
In 2002, given free webspace by my ISP, I uploaded my poetry onto their server. This time, my site was called, “Inside the Hands of Time,” the title of my first poem. I maintained this website until 2003 when I moved to another state and changed my ISP.
In 2004, once again using free webspace provided my my new ISP, I opened a new website called “YKWIT” (”You Know What I Think” a.k.a. “Why Quit?”). This site was dedicated to political, social and religious commentary, with my poetry as a sub-site.
After almost a year, I closed this site down and opened a blog on Blogsome.com called “JOS/S” (”Jake Olden Shy Speaks”). This site contained nothing but my commentary, plus a personal web journal. This was my first experience with WordPress. The only real problem was the slow pageload time during peak hours for this free site. So, I opened an account with BlueHost: “shyspeak.net.”
